Process #

Sketch of the character

I wanted to emphasize on expressing emotion and character with limited movement. I wanted this character to be cute, taking heavy inspirations from characters such as Kirby and Yoshi.

Modelling character
The model was additionally rigged to further increase the efficiency of the animation and movements that are difficult to implement manually. It also included options to change face, and other extra effects.

Custom shader was utilized to create flat shaded and cartoon-like effect.

The animation utilized stepped interpolation to further make it feel like a cartoon, and to emphasize the movement.

Initially, there were plans to create the animation in a certain environment (e.g. labratory/testing ground). However, the ideas were scrapped in order to keep the project within a reasonable time scale.

Sound effects were sourced from freesound.org, and from a previous project FOXTROT. The sound effects were further modified in Audacity and Premier Pro.
